Frankincense resin is waterdistilled. The heat releases soluble ingredients, the emerging steam divides them from the insoluble solids.The impregnated steam is cooled down and condensates. The condensate is collected and we get a mixture of hydrosol and essential oil. After a while, they separate and the essential oil floats atop.
The essential oil is then aspirated , both hydrosol and essential oil are stored in airtight containers until they are bottled.

Hydrosol and essential oil contain different constituents, since some of the substances released by the steam are water-soluble while others are fat-soluble. They complement each other, though, coming from the same source, afterall.

Closely accompanied from the resin harvest to the bottle
We buy the frankincense resin directly from small farmers. It originates from wild-growing trees in Somalia. Our farmers collect, clean and sort it. We support this process on site and, after many years of gathering knowledge and experience, are able to assess the quality of the resins ourselves.
For getting the best quality it is important that the trees are harvested only once a year, with breaks every two years, and that they have close seasons during periods of drought. We only distill the best quality and fresh resin, which results in the outstanding quality of our products. We don’t know of any other company that works comparably. We accompany the entire production process, from the resin to the bottle. We extract frankincense hydrosol and essential oil from the high-quality raw material by means of gentle steam distillation.
Varietal purity is very important to us, because like this the different characters of the various types of frankincense can be experienced.
